You need to add a new contact and be able to find any contact quickly. This page covers both.

Adding a New Contact

You do not have to be on the Contacts page. The + New button in the top bar works from anywhere in CRE Fuel.
1

Click + New

In the top bar, click + New, then choose New Contact.
2

Fill in what you have

Name and a phone number are enough to start. Add email, company, Contact Type, and asset types if you know them. You are not blocked on having everything.
3

Save

The contact appears in your list straight away.
Press Ctrl + N (or Cmd + N on a Mac) to open the new-contact form without touching the mouse. Useful mid-call.

Searching Your Contact List

Search runs when you press Enter, not as you type. The box will say so, and shows an Enter cue while you have something typed that has not been run yet. This is deliberate: on a book of several thousand contacts, searching on every keystroke made the whole thing slower the more it got used.
1

Type what you remember

A first name, last name, company, phone number, or email address.
2

Press Enter

Results come back for the term you ran. Press Esc to abandon something you typed but have not run.
3

Narrow it with filters

Use the filter rail to cut the list down by tag, Contact Type, vendor type, asset type, and more. Stack as many as you need.
4

Clear when you're done

Clearing resets both what you typed and what you ran, taking you back to the full list.
There are two search boxes: the one in the top bar, which reaches your whole book from any screen, and the one on the Contacts page, which searches within the list you are looking at. Both wait for Enter.
First names are weighted above last names, so searching john surfaces every John before it reaches anyone named Johnson. If you misspell a name, CRE Fuel can still suggest the closest matches from your book.
