# Organize Your CRE Contacts with Tags and Filtered Lists

> Use tags to label and group your CRE contacts so you can quickly filter, find, and send targeted messages to the right people every time.

Tags let you group contacts any way that makes sense for your business. You create the labels, you apply them, and you can filter or message by them instantly. A well-tagged list saves hours of manual sorting every week.

## What Tags Are

A tag is a short label you attach to one or more contacts. Tags are free-form, so you can use anything that fits your workflow. Common examples:

* Seller
* Buyer
* Hot Lead
* Office
* Industrial
* Follow Up This Week

One contact can have as many tags as you need.

## Add a Tag to a Contact

  <Step title="Open the contact record">
    Click **Contacts** in the left sidebar, then click the contact's name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the Tags field">
    Scroll to the **Tags** field in the contact record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your tag">
    Click inside the Tags field and type a new tag name, or click an existing tag from the dropdown to apply it.

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save**. The tag is now attached to that contact.

## Filter Contacts by Tag

  <Step title="Go to Contacts">
    Click **Contacts** in the left sidebar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open filters">
    Click the **Filter** button next to the search bar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a tag">
    Under the Tags section, click the tag you want to filter by. CRE Fuel immediately shows only contacts with that tag.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Combine tags">
    Click additional tags to narrow the list further. CRE Fuel returns contacts that match all selected tags.

  Tags are also used when you build audiences for marketing campaigns. Any tag you create here is available when setting up a bulk email or text blast.
